Inspired specifically by the Bosatsu (Japanese Bodisattvas) of Byodin Temple in Kyoto, this is a series of small terracotta figures.
The original Bosatsu are lesser immortals that were made to adorn the central room of a temple. They float and fly on clouds, surrounding a large golden Buddha. Each one has a tool or instrument to help indicate a specific attribute/persona.
The 21st century Bosatsus’ heavenly tools have been replaced with Apple products.
Embracing their transcendence through expensive tech products, these high tech holy men “float” around the gallery, absorbed in their own devices.
